⚠️ Note: You cannot connect a sensor that is charging or has a drained battery and is not blinking. The sensor must blink blue and another color to connect to the app.
⚠️ Important: The app must be allowed to run in the background on your phone. Otherwise, it cannot receive data from the sensor or store it in the cloud when you turn off the screen or open another app.
1. Check Bluetooth Settings
- Turn on Bluetooth:
- Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone:
- Go to Settings > Connections > Bluetooth.
- If Bluetooth is off, turn it on.
- Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone:
- Find the HAVS Protect Sensor:
- Check if the sensor appears in the list of available devices.
- You can also check the sensor list in the HAVS Protect app (on the “Connect Sensor” page).
2. Check Location Settings (Older Android Versions)
For Android 11 and older, location permission is required for BLE connections.
⚠️ Note: HAVS Protect does not collect or use your location. This is a requirement from the Android system.
- Enable Location Services:
- Go to Settings > Location.
- Make sure location services are enabled.
- Set location mode to High Accuracy.
- Allow Location Permission for HAVS Protect:
- Go to Settings > Apps > HAVS Protect > Permissions.
- Set location permission to Allow all the time.
3. Check Bluetooth Permissions (Android 12+)
On Android 12 and later, new permissions are required for BLE functionality.
- Enable Bluetooth Permissions:
- Go to Settings > Apps > HAVS Protect > Permissions.
- Make sure these permissions are allowed:
- Nearby Devices (BLUETOOTH_SCAN) – needed to detect the sensor.
- BLUETOOTH_CONNECT – needed to establish the connection.
4. Verify Device Compatibility
Not all Android phones support BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy).
- Check Device Specifications:
- Search for your phone model online to confirm BLE support.
- Test with a BLE Scanner:
- Install “BLE Scanner” from Google Play and see if the sensor is detected.
5. Disable Battery Optimizations
Some phones block Bluetooth connections to save battery.
- Remove Battery Optimization for HAVS Protect:
- Go to Settings > Apps > HAVS Protect > Battery.
- Set to Unrestricted (or equivalent).
6. Check for Interference and Airplane Mode
Wireless signals can interfere with BLE connections.
- Disable Airplane Mode:
- Make sure Airplane Mode is off.
- Turn Off Wi-Fi Temporarily:
- Try turning off Wi-Fi and mobile data to minimize interference during pairing.
7. Clear Bluetooth Cache
If Bluetooth has issues, clearing the cache may help.
- Clear Cache for Bluetooth Services:
- Go to Settings > Apps > Show System Apps > Bluetooth.
- Tap Storage and clear Cache and Data.
8. Restart Both Devices
- Restart your phone.
- Restart the sensor by placing it on the charger and removing it again.
- Try connecting after restarting both devices.
9. Update Everything
- Update Android:
- Go to Settings > Software Update and check for updates.
- Update HAVS Protect App:
- Check Google Play for app updates.
10. Test with Another Device
If the sensor works with another phone, the issue might be specific to your original phone.
- Test with another Android phone.
- If possible, test with an iPhone to isolate the issue.
